During the baby boom of the 1950s and 1960s, high school seniors with a 3.5 grade point average, solid college entrance exam score and participation in extracurricular activities had good enough qualifications to be strongly considered at many of their top choice colleges. But 2008 is the peak of the "bab boom echo" the children of the baby boomers. There are more 18-year-old Americans around this year than ever before, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, which is bad news for college-bound seniors in Greenwich and beyond, all fighting for a limited number of college seats that haven't increased in numbers much to reflect the booming population |
