RTM ballots to be recounted |
Description |
When the official results of the Representative Town Meeting election came out this week, write-in candidate Elizabeth Sanders couldn't believe her eyes. A goose egg appeared next to her name. "We all know I would have gotten at least one vote because I voted for myself" said Sanders, who was one of 20 candidates competing for 18 seats in District 1/South Center of the RTM. Sanders swears that a number of her neighbors and other residents of the district, which encompasses downtown Greenwich and the surrounding neighborhoods, filled out her name on the ballot after what she termed as an energetic get-out-the-vote effort on her part. Election officials confirmed Thursday that at least 104 write-in votes were not counted in Tuesday's election in District 1, prompting the town to conduct an informal recount of those ballots that is scheduled for Friday |
