Being Jewish in the major league |
Description |
Three retired major league baseball players, Ron Blomberg and Art Shamsky of the Mets and Elliott Maddox, a Yankee who converted to Judaism in 1975, discussed their experiences of being Jewish and playing in the major leagues during a baseball-themed event that included ballpark-style food and an exhibit ofsports memorabilia.. The panel was moderated by Richard Deitsch of Sports Illustrated. While the players said they never really discussed their faith in the locker room, and aside from remarks they would hear in small towns while playing in the minor leagues, being Jewish was never a big issue |
