Estimates vary on effect of town cutbacks |
Description |
Residents will see a difference in the level of service they receive from the town due to budget cuts as fiscal year 2009-10 begins Wednesday, two town officials said. But John Crary, the town's adninistrator, and Caroline Calderone Baisley, the health director, differ on how much of a difference it will be. Crary expects most residents will see very little change in their day-to-day lives. Calderone Baisley is slightly more pessimistic about the budget cuts that forced the town to cut staff in February. The town cut 20 full-time and 19 part-time staff in February from its 1,020-person, non-school work force in efforts to close and $8.4 million budget gap as the recession cut the town's revenues |
